It was with great sadness that I learned of the death of Solomon Burke this morning (Oct. 10). One of soul music’s defining voices reportedly passed away upon arrival at a Dutch airport where he was to play a concert in Amsterdam. Having had the pleasure of interviewing Burke, I can say unequivocally that he was a generous, warm-hearted man, completely devoted to his music.
